Painted Shakes

Tuesday, they put in the shower! And along with that, they started replacing some new shakes in places where they had to pull a bunch out to replace windows. We decided against vinyl siding  (boring!) and stuck with cedar shakes, which match the style of our house better anyways... A gajillion shakes were delivered on the back of a flatbed semi and are now stacked in the back of the garage, making it smell like a sauna!  :)  And the paint guys came and started priming some of the new shakes.

Today was a paint fest! There was an assembly line of three guys working on priming shakes, one putting out new ones to be primed and turning them over to have the other side done, the second one using a super painter thing (paint spray gun thingy? I have no idea what it is called). And the third was collecting the finished shakes and putting them out in the grass to dry. In other places around the house, another painter was priming the shakes that already went up yesterday, and she started scraping paint off the old shakes. The idea is to start priming the old part of the house this week (I think?). We have decided on a similar color scheme, but the main body of the house will be one shade lighter.

The new shower in place!

Priming, Day One

Will there be enough cedar shakes...? Only time will tell I guess

Just some old bricks salvaged from the chimney

The assembly like

Drying shakes

These leaves are coated so thickly in paint that they look fuzzy.....Cool, but real gross at the same time

They painted our grass by default..the darkest patches (minus the shadows) are where the grass looks fuzzy because the paint is coated so thick (see previous picture)
